Al Kaaban Private Rural Resort

Al Kaaban in northern Qatar proves that sustainability can be built into the wall itself. Conmarble Natural Finishes delivered rammed-earth walls using locally sourced desert soils—compact, expressive strata that sit naturally in the landscape while cutting transport and embodied-impact in the material palette. Thick earthen mass tempers the desert’s daily swings, keeping interiors cooler by day and comfortable into the night.

Rammed Earth: Heritage Logic, Contemporary Performance

  • Identity fit: Builds with the land itself—stratified layers that echo Qatar’s desert horizons and revive time-honored earthen craft in a modern form.

  • Climate logic: High thermal mass smooths temperature swings; deep set openings and shaded courtyards reduce direct solar gain; limewash or silicate breathable sealers protect surfaces without trapping moisture.

  • Performance: Engineered gradation of local soils; controlled moisture content and lift heights; SRE panels where higher compressive performance or prefabrication is required.

  • Sustainability frame: Local material sourcing, reduced transport, long service life, repairable surfaces, and low-VOC sealers support LEED v4 / Mostadam contribution potential (Materials/IEQ). Conmarble Natural Finishes will submit current test reports and VOC declarations during submittals.
